Knowing Sinus Headache Symptoms
A sinus headache can range anywhere from a nuisance to a de-habilitating pain. Knowing sinus headache symptoms can allow people to see them coming and head them off before they cause a major problem. How is it possible to know the symptoms before having the problem?
Understanding how the body works and what symptoms a person may feel makes dealing with sinus headache symptoms easy to deal with. One sinus headache symptom can be congestion. When people have a cold they usually also feel stopped up in the sinuses. They feel congested and they will blow their nose to help with the congestion.
This might clear out the nasal passages but not the sinus itself. Taking a decongestant before the sinuses get clogged keeps ahead of the problem. When a person feels a headache coming on, that's the time to take the pill. It is very important not to wait until the person is in complete pain.
Other Sinus Headache Symptoms to Watch for
Another sinus headache symptom to watch out for is the feeling of pressure in a person's cheeks and ears. These are excellent symptoms to watch for. When someone feels pressure coming on, that is the time to act. Knowing these sinus headache symptoms can allow a person to resolve them before they become a real problem.
These are by no means the only way to stop sinus headache symptoms, but battling it before it gets more painful is the best medicine. Another place to look for sinus headache symptoms is lying down on the bed. If the pain gets a little worse when a person lays down this can be a symptom of a sinus headache. The change in pressure with different positions is often associated with sinus headaches.
Treating Sinus Headache Symptoms
Once a person has a full blown sinus headache, it becomes more difficult to manage. It can hurt some people enough that they want their eyes closed and for no one to even speak in their general direction. The good news is that sinus headache symptoms don't have to last. It is important that when the first symptoms appear that measures are taken to treat the sinuses.
Decongestants and nasal sprays are often prescribed by physicians to treat the sinuses. A basic saline solution nasal spray can be used which may provide immense relief without medicating. If the sinus headache symptoms are left untreated a sinus infection may result requiring treatment with antibiotics.
