Headache Neck Pain: Is it a Common Thing?

Headache neck pain is the most common neck pain, especially among teenagers and adults. Although some medical reports show that this neck pain also exist in the elderly, the causes might be different. Headache neck pain is common associated with tension headache.

In fact, tension headache is apparently the most common type of headache, which means that headache neck pain is not something uncommon among us either. Fairly present in at least 2 to 3 among 10 urban citizens, this neck pain is similar to the headache itself, the only difference being that it's at the back of the head.

So, What is a Tension Headache Then?

Being the major cause of headache neck pain, we first need to know what tension headache is. Basically it is the headache we normally get during hot weathers, which puts constant pressure on both sides of the head. Although sometimes it may get very bad, normally the severity level is just within mild to moderate, and it does not affect our daily lifestyle and routine activities.

It's considered the most common physical nuisance. Once it comes, and it doesn't go off easily without annoying one. The best part is that the headache itself is caused by stress and fatigue.

For some individuals, this can be a bit more serious, especially if it occurs too often in a day, and when it leads to neck pain. This headache neck pain sometimes can travel down to shoulders, and make an individual feel very weak and vulnerable.

Usually it doesn't go off without taking you taking a rest. Usually the headache and the headache neck pain do not necessarily have a specific cause, although medically it is believed to be common conditions such as anxiety, depression, and insomnia.

The Neck Pain Itself

The common headache neck pain is no more than the tightening of the neck and shoulder muscles, but the same pain in some other individuals may be completely different. Meaning that they are caused by some other unknown reasons such as nervous system problems and so on.

The problem might have been there, but only gets triggered during headaches, due to the buildup of the pressure around the area. This is not to forget the rise in blood pressure too.

Another cause of the headache neck pain, although very rare, is the loss of neck curve in many people. In this situation, the tissues in the neck are weakened and thus prone to pressures and frequent pains.
