Finding out what Complex Migraines are all about
A study shows that more than a million Americans suffer from migraine attacks every year. This can happen at anytime and strike anywhere when the person least expects it.
This is caused by stress and tension at work or in the home, hormones, food, low blood sugar levels, dehydration and the buildup of toxins in the body which causes certain systems not to function properly such as the liver. But these are just the basic symptoms of the sickness which may last for a short period of time.
Should the person feel numb, have a hard time speaking, experience a loss of vision or dizziness which are also associated with a stroke, there is a chance that this is a complex migraine.
It is very difficult to distinguish a complex migraine and a stroke since both are caused by the lack of blood flowing to the brain. Migraines often happen because of a spasm in a blood vessel while strokes occur due to blood clots or bleeding in some brain tissue. The sickness may last for a few minutes or sometimes ends in a few hours.
The doctor will only be able to determine the problem after a CT scan and a blood test has been done which makes it very important to rush the patient to the hospital immediately when this happens.
The bad news is that the more frequent complex migraine happens; this can really lead to a stroke. Can anything be done to stop the pain? The answer is yes. However, the treatment on each patient is different and is treated on a case to case basis.
A person can swallow a pill if the attack isn't that serious. Those who experience complex migraines can take medication to prevent this from happening since it is often associated with symptoms of a stroke.
Aside from medication, there are other preventive solutions against a complex migraine.
The first is to write down everything in a log to monitor the attacks. The information provided can give doctors a better understanding of the problem to be able to give the right dosage of medicine for the patient.
A healthy body is a strong one that doesn't succumb to stress easily. The person doesn't have to enroll in a gym to do this but get simply get involved in a physical activity for better circulation of blood and oxygen to the brain.
Some foods may also be bad to the health. This may be caused by the ingredients used such as MSG or the way it was cooked. The person should eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables and cut down on fatty ones for a balanced diet.
The person should also eat at the right time. This means not missing any of the meals so that the energy level will not fluctuate which could lead to stress and migraines to occur.
Eating should also be combined with drinking. This will help the food go down and prevent migraines which can also happen due to dehydration.
Some people are ticking time bombs about to explode. This means not bottling up issues or problems inside that is also stressful for the mind. The human body can only take on so much before going mad so an outlet must be made to release the tension.
Complex migraines are hard to handle. This makes it important for the person to see the doctor at once if a headache occurs no matter how simple or mild.
